Critical Path  (Vic Gammill - 07/14 21:19:03)

I am a scheduler; just a tool of reliable data delivery. Critical Path is not a sequence, so much as a list of the lowest or negative activity floats. Adding float to the critical items gives elbow room to the workmen. If you have a reliably built schedule, critical activities are simply a report that gives the PM focus to organize the forces performing the work. It's what I do as a scheduler. "Add resources here." or "Move these high quality resources with float here and double up there for a week by getting both floors finished together to catch up to the predecessors who are way ahead and their successors who are twiddling their thumbs in the hallway." or "Can they bring in the A Team for a week or two on this section and put the B Team where the A Team is? The schedule shows this team operates about 30% faster. Look at their completions side by side in this filter."
